Janela Brasil presents Avante!, a new concert series focused on the future of Brazilian music, celebrating the creativity and transformative power of today’s Brazilian artists. This first edition features Jadsa, an artist from Salvador de Bahia: singer, songwriter, guitarist, producer, and musical director. She began her career working on soundtracks for Teatro Vila Velha and has since developed a unique musical language influenced by MPB, samba, rock, trip hop, reggae, and neo-soul.
In 2015, she released her EP Godê, followed by her debut album Olho de Vidro in 2021. The album gained national recognition in Brazil for its blend of influences ranging from Tropicália to São Paulo’s avant-garde scene. It earned her nominations for Best New Artist and Album of the Year at the prestigious Prêmio Multishow and APCA awards, and she was also named by CNN Brasil as one of the women reshaping Brazilian music.
Jadsa’s work also embraces a strong spiritual dimension, with songs that honor the Orixás and the Candomblé faith. By portraying African spirituality in a positive light, she challenges long-standing stigmas around non-Christian religious expressions, especially those rooted in Black culture, offering a powerful and contemporary artistic voice.
