Christmas Markets in Barcelona in 2025
Although they may vary from year to year in some locations and sizes, the most well-known and beloved Christmas markets never miss their annual Christmas celebrations. Here we bring you the most popular ones.
Fira de Santa Llúcia
The Santa Lucía Fair is held from late November until Christmas Day. Its location next to Barcelona Cathedral and its history dating back to the late 18th century make it the city's most important Christmas market.
In its more than 300 Christmas stalls, you'll find the best decorations to decorate your home this Christmas, as well as Nativity figures, including the classic “caganers”.
Its extensive opening hours, from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., give everyone the opportunity to visit. And, of course, once you're here, you can't leave without having enjoyed the Cathedral.
Christmas Fair at the Sagrada Família
From one unique location to another that's even more so: Sagrada Família. Gaudí's masterpiece, a true emblem of Barcelona, hosts one of the most beloved Christmas markets for all Barcelona residents.
From the end of November to December 23rd, we can visit its more than one hundred stalls full of Christmas figures and decorations. Its opening hours are similar to those of the Fira de Santa Llúcia, but on weekends, we'll be lucky enough to be able to visit until 10:00 p.m.
And if you're feeling peckish, don't go crazy looking for places to grab a bite to eat. Here, you'll find stalls where you can enjoy Christmas snacks that you'll be very grateful for, like chestnuts.
Fira de Reis
We continue touring iconic places in Barcelona, this time heading to Gran Vía, where from mid-December until the Three Kings' visit, you'll find a wide variety of toys and sweets.
Walk from Plaça de la Universitat to Calle Calabria to find that perfect gift you've been looking for. This may be the best market we've seen for gifts or souvenirs. Remember that gifts are for others as much as for yourself. We're warning you right now because you're sure to find yourself in that situation.
Fira de Nadal del Port Vell
One of the newest Christmas markets is the one held at Moll de la Fusta from December 15th to January 6th; Fira de Nadal del Port Vell, very close to the Columbus Monument.
The best thing about this Christmas market isn't its stalls—and they're very good—nor its enormous Christmas tree, over 30 meters high, but the luxury of enjoying fantastic views of the sea.
Christmas Activities in Barcelona
The first thing seems obvious, but it's worth remembering. When you arrive in Barcelona, remember to visit Barcelona's great monuments. It seems like a logical thing to do, but Christmas clouded our senses, and we only pursue things related to Christmas. Barcelona's great monuments and emblems are there waiting for us to discover and enjoy them.
And speaking of chasing Christmas highlights, as soon as night falls, you have a mission: go see the Christmas lights in downtown Barcelona. Start on Passeig de Sant Joan, and don't forget such impressive places as Las Ramblas, Les Corts Catalanes, or Calle Aragó.
Monuments visited, lights seen, Christmas markets explored—what else could be more Christmassy? Well, a visit to the largest and best Nativity scene in all of Barcelona, set up in Plaça de Sant Jaume along with other exhibits.
The events and activities organized by Barcelona City Council are numerous, and in places like Plaça Catalunya, fun is guaranteed, whether with live music or games and parades.
And finally, one of our top tips is to stop by La Farga and show everyone that ice skating isn't as complicated as it's made out to be. Guaranteed fun at one of the most popular activities in Barcelona this Christmas.
